This is a part time position (up to 32hrs per week)


Office of Aging, Adult and Disability Services (OAADS).
The mission of the Office of Adult, Aging and Disability Services (OAADS) is to help individuals thrive in the community of their choice by fostering independence through seamless and responsive access to personalized services. OAADS serves three main populations: individuals with disabilities, veterans, and older adults. The State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Office is located within OAADS.


Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman.
The State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Office is the entity in Colorado, headed by the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman (SLTCO), that exists to carry out the functions and duties set forth in federal regulations established in Title VII, Chapter 2, of the Older Americans Act, as well as Title 26, Article 11.5, of the Older Coloradans Act. The primary purpose of the SLTCO Office is to promote and protect the rights of long-term care residents guaranteed to them under federal and state law. The SLTCO Office does this by advocating for residents of skilled nursing homes and licensed assisted living residences across the state.

About this Position:
The Colorado State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program protects the rights and improves the quality of care and quality of life for residents in long term care through individual and systems advocacy and on behalf of residents living in licensed nursing homes and assisted living homes.  As a part time long-term care ombudsman to travel across the state to advocate on behalf of the residents in Long-Term Care Facilities and/or Program for All Inclusive Care for the Elderly.


Primary Job Duties

Advocacy-investigates Compliance of Agencies & Facilities and Provides Technical Assistance.   At the direction of State LTCO and/or Deputy State LTCO, the Ombudsman Specialist directly manages complex complaint handling on behalf of the residents/participants advocating for residents of long-term care facilities and for participants enrolled in the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) Program. Facilitates comprehensive customer service and program navigation for the PACE Ombudsman Program and Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. The Ombudsman Specialist is responsible for the following duties:

Support Quality Assurance Manager and Program Coordinator.  The Ombudsman Specialist provides support for the Office of the SLTCO. The SLTCO or Deputy SLTCO assigns and coordinates with the Quality Assurance Manager and the Program Coordinator to complete tasks as necessary.

Other Duties as Assigned: The SLTCO may assign this position to other duties regarding the general operation of the program. 

Minimum Qualifications

Experience Only:

Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position

OR

Education and Experience: 

A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years.

Special Qualifications:  This position is required to have LTC Ombudsman certification in Colorado upon hire, or obtain LTC Ombudsman certification in Colorado within the first 90 days of employment, and this position must maintain certification throughout employment.

CDHS Selection Process Explanation

Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40/hrs per week). Part-time employment is calculated on a prorated basis to determine qualifications. Be sure your application specifically addresses your qualifications, experience, work products, and accomplishments as they relate to the position and minimum requirements. 


Minimum Qualification Screening Process 

A Human Resources Analyst will review the work experience/job duties sections of the online job application to determine whether your experience meets the minimum qualifications for the position. You must complete the official State of Colorado online application.  Cover letters and resumes WILL NOT be reviewed during the minimum qualifications screening process. You must specifically document your work experience and qualifications in the application form. Do not use "see resume" or "see attached."


You must meet the minimum qualifications to continue in the selection process.  Part-time work experience will be prorated.


Comparative Analysis Process – Structured Application Review 

After minimum qualification screening, the comparative analysis process will involve reviewing and rating of all the information you submit. The comparative analysis step may also include your results from standardized testing.

Document your work experience/job duties to the extent to which you possess the skills, education, experience, minimum qualifications, and preferred qualifications. 

If listed, answer all supplemental questions as your answers to these questions will be evaluated during this phase. Provide at least 4-8 sentences for each supplemental question.

Answer the supplemental questions completely and thoughtfully. We will rate your answers  based on the content of your response and your writing skills (spelling, grammar, and clarity of your writing).
