Join Our Team: Sr. Engineering Manager - Web Engineering Team Lead

We're seeking an exceptional Sr. Engineering Manager to lead our Web Engineering team, responsible for building and delivering customer-centric roadmaps for our digital web products used by tens of millions of American Express customers worldwide. As a Sr. Engineering Manager, you will be part of the U.S. Consumer Services and Enterprise Digital & Data Technology Team (USCSDT), which brings together foundational strategic technology capabilities in digital experience engineering, AI/ML, marketing technology, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and work with a team of highly accomplished engineers to build and deliver customer-centric roadmaps.
• Responsible for building new features and iterating on existing products using the latest software development methodologies and frameworks to ensure scalability and reliability.
• Collaborate with product managers to prioritize features for new products based on customer needs and enable the web product vision for the company.
• Mentor and nurture talent, promoting a culture of togetherness, partnership, and continuous team improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics.
• Manage a co-located and remote engineering team, providing guidance and support to ensure success.
• Recruit and hire outstanding and diverse web talent from the industry.
• Influence and promote modern software engineering principles across the organization.
• Collaborate with product, business, and technology teams to motivate change required to implement product roadmaps and support the team in technical issue resolution.
• Engage in 1-on-1 conversations with team members for mentorship and career development planning.
• Prioritize, plan, and implement the development schedule for major product releases.

Essential Qualifications:

• Experience being a people leader, coaching, mentoring, and guiding highly talented technical teams.
• Proven experience hiring, retaining, and leading high-caliber engineering talent.
• Understanding of web UI technologies and frameworks such as React and Angular.
• Experience building customer-facing products with high performance, availability, and scalability.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to cater to a diverse audience.
• Experience leading and building software engineering teams designing and building efficient software products in a fast-paced environment.
• Hands-on experience architecting and building modern REST APIs.
• Experience with Agile, Scrum, or other rapid application development methodologies.
• Commitment to drive a culture of accountability and ownership to empower teams and motivate change.
• Experience leading individual contributors and providing career direction, coaching, and building development plans.
• Experience working in a distributed team model and collaborating with remote team members.
• BS or MS degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other engineering disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud-based technologies and microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
• Knowledge of industry trends and new technologies.
• Experience with open-source software development.

Pay Transparency:

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits. The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
