Senior Accountant – Employee Benefits

RESPONSIBILITIES
What You’ll Do
Responsibilities vary depending on the specific corporate function but may include:
Supporting strategic finance initiatives that drive operational excellence, accuracy, and organizational growth
Partnering with cross‑functional teams across agency, regional, and corporate accounting functions to support consistent financial operations
Managing functional workflows related to commission processing, agency billing, producer compensation, and accounts payable
Processing and reconciling commissions, fees, reimbursements, and expenses to ensure accurate reporting and general ledger posting
Administering and maintaining commission processing systems, including setup of customers, producers, carriers, rate tables, and electronic remittance mappings
Analyzing commission data and reports to identify discrepancies, missing payments, and errors and coordinating resolution
Preparing and distributing commission statements and payroll reporting related to commissions and bonuses
Assisting with month‑end close activities to ensure accurate agency‑level accounting records
Managing accounts receivable activities including invoicing clients and monitoring outstanding balances
Supporting carrier setup, credentialing, and compliance activities
Reviewing, coding, and submitting accounts payable transactions and coordinating vendor setup
Analyzing financial data and operational reports to inform decision‑making and improve outcomes
Ensuring compliance with organizational policies, accounting standards, and internal controls
Contributing to a collaborative culture that supports colleagues across Alera Group’s national network
QUALIFICATIONS
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
3+ years of experience in a staff accountant, senior accountant, or commission accounting role
Strong knowledge of accounting processes including commissions, billing, and accounts payable
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Experience with CRM, commission processing, or accounting systems
Strong organizational and project management skills
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Compensation:Salary range: $75,000 – $90,000 per year
