Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Comcentric Inc. is seeking a Contract Planning Engineer to support a telecommunications client in a fully remote capacity. This role focuses on broadband/access network planning and documentation, particularly emphasizing GPON and XGS-PON network activities.
Responsibilities
- Document existing and planned GPON and XGS-PON network activity, including Visio diagrams and related network documentation
- Support planning and documentation for voice and data network elements
- Monitor and evaluate network capacity utilization and assist with capacity triggers as needed
- Forecast and trend bandwidth growth to support bandwidth relief planning
- Develop plans to augment capacity and support network relief projects
- Analyze access network environments and support planning, design, and evaluation of network systems
- Support engineering activities related to hardware, software, equipment, and subcontractor services
- Partner with technical teams across Engineering, Sales, Operations, and other internal groups
- Handle moderately complex engineering assignments with limited direction and guidance
Skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and relevant experience
- 4+ years of experience in telecommunications engineering, telecom planning, OSP, ISP, access network engineering, fiber planning, broadband planning, or a related field
- Experience with GPON, XGS-PON, PON, FTTH, FTTx, OSP, ISP, access networks, or fiber broadband infrastructure
- Experience creating or maintaining network documentation, diagrams, Visio drawings, as-builts, or planned network activity documentation
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams across Engineering, Sales, and Operations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Visio diagramming for telecom or access network documentation
- OSP/ISP fiber planning or design
- Capacity planning, bandwidth utilization review, capacity triggers, or network augmentation planning
- Experience with OLTs, ONTs, splitters, fiber routing, splice documentation, optical budgets, SLDs, or fiber allocation
- Tools such as Visio, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, 3-GIS, Vetro, Smallworld, IQGeo, NDS, or similar telecom/GIS design platforms
