Principal Consulting Group is a growing consulting firm specializing in technical accounting, data analytics, IPO readiness, and finance transformation. They are seeking a Senior Manager, Technical Accounting, to serve as a subject matter expert and guide engagement teams through complex accounting matters while shaping the future of their technical accounting practice.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical specialist on business combinations and financial instruments
- Draft technical accounting memos, including purchase accounting analyses and debt/equity classification assessments
- Provide real-time guidance to engagement teams navigating complex transactions
- Prepare client-ready deliverables such as technical memos and presentations explaining accounting conclusions
- Collaborate with directors and partners to ensure consistent technical positions across engagements
- Coordinate with external auditors on technical accounting documentation
- Mentor managers and seniors and provide technical oversight on complex workstreams
- Contribute to building standardized methodologies and templates for the firm’s technical accounting practice
Skills
- CPA required
- 7–9 years of experience in technical accounting, accounting advisory, or audit
- Deep expertise in ASC 805, ASC 470, ASC 480, and ASC 815
- Experience analyzing complex debt instruments, convertible securities, and embedded derivatives
- Proven ability to draft technical accounting memos independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Big 4 or national firm background strongly preferred
- Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) or technical consultation experience
- M&A transactions, debt restructurings, or convertible financing transactions
- IPO readiness or SEC reporting exposure
- Experience mentoring team members and developing technical methodologies
