The AVP of Business Development will drive business growth by connecting customers with innovative pharmacy benefit solutions and shaping competitive sales strategies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive PBM sales strategy that supports corporate growth goals and expands market presence
- Oversee and manage the full sales cycle—from lead generation and RFP response to contract negotiation and close
- Forecast annual and quarterly revenue, establish sales targets, and monitor progress against goals
- Within a designated region, identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities with self-funded employers, brokers, consultants, TPAs, and other strategic partners
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships (C-suite and senior decision-makers) to influence long-term partnerships
- Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and external events to enhance brand visibility and generate leads
- Partner with Sales, Operations, Marketing, Product, and Customer Success teams to refine sales messaging, enhance service offerings, and deliver customer value
- Monitor PBM industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive activity to inform sales tactics and product positioning
- Leverage market insights to refine go-to-market approaches and differentiate SlateRx in a crowded PBM landscape
Skills
- 10+ years in PBM, healthcare benefits, or related sales leadership roles—with demonstrated success selling complex solutions and exceeding revenue targets
- Deep understanding of PBM operations, formulary strategy, rebate contracting, pharmacy network management, and employer/health plan decision-making
- Exceptional strategic thinking, negotiation, and communication skills with the ability to influence high-level stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
- Proven track record building and scaling sales in national or regional markets
- Existing network with brokers, consultants, and large employer groups
- Experience responding to and winning RFPs with self-insured employers, TPAs, and health plans
