Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Dice is seeking a Network Planning Engineer I to join their team. This non-supervisory role supports the development of network growth and evolution plans for the National Core Transport Network, creating planning packages for implementation by field engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Participate in and support the development of detailed network growth and evolution plans
- Create planning packages for field/design engineering teams to implement
- Manage the creation of capital and expense budget approvals associated with assigned projects
- Maintain a monthly current estimate of expenditures for each funding package
- Handle short-term projects, typically lasting one to six months
- Provide mentoring and training to peers and other employees on transport planning and engineering
Skills
- 1-2 years of relevant engineering or planning experience in areas such as interdisciplinary network transport, SONET, and wave division multiplexing
- Experience with mechanized systems for transport planning and engineering, such as Trunk Inventory Record Keeping System (TIRKS), CNDC ASPEN Portal, LCAM, Metasolv, Fireworks, CORE, or equivalent systems
- Knowledge of network transport planning processes, capacity management, central office common systems (power, terminations, infrastructure, alarms), and outside plant principles is required
- Competent computer skills, including Word, are necessary
- Accomplished written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal and negotiation skills
