Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The City of Aurora is seeking a Financial Support Technician to join their team. This role involves performing accounts payable and payroll functions, providing guidance on invoice coding, and conducting research for invoices and purchase orders.
Responsibilities
- Proficient at processing payroll, invoices, purchase requests and purchase orders
- Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines
- Assists with interpreting policies related to travel, payroll, and other Financial Support Technician functions
- Good knowledge of system to accomplish tasks
- Must be organized and analytical
- Proficient at processing payroll, invoices, and Purchase Requests/Purchase Orders
- Verify coding on invoices and ensure proper back-up documentation is included for batching
- Perform a variety of more complex analytical, budget, administrative, and accounting functions relating to invoices, purchase requests, and purchase orders
- Account history research
- Research purchase order history and activity
- Process and review purchase requests for completeness and funding
- Process legal bills
- Proficient at processing fiscal security deposits and toilet rebates
- Process journal entries for construction payments
- Provide administrative and technical assistance in the preparation and review of financial reports
- Assist with the interpretation of policies and procedures as they pertain to travel, payroll, and other finance related tasks
- Assist in the analysis of fund and account activity
- Assist with research and provide applicable documentation to assist in the year-end closing process
- Provide research, analysis, data, and presentation support
- Assist in developing work goals and objectives for self
- Prioritize work and meet schedules and deadlines
- Knowledge of governmental accounting and budgeting principles and practices
- Ability to work with other Financial Operations staff
- Good knowledge of budget and accounting systems
- Good analytical and organizational skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least two (2) years increasingly responsible financial and administrative support experience
- Minimum intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of standard office procedures
- General business practices
- Report formatting and records maintenance
- Office management principles
- Personal computers including word processing, database, and spreadsheet software application program
- Excellent customer service skills over the phone and in-person
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Skill in operating a personal computer with related software

- Associate's Degree in finance, business, office administration or directly related field
- Experience using a multi-line phone line
