The role involves obtaining and verifying demographic and insurance information, scheduling appointments, and providing excellent customer service in a call center environment.
Responsibilities
- Obtaining and verifying necessary demographic and insurance information, including authorization/referrals/notifications (diagnostic, surgical, therapy, admissions/observations, and other procedures/treatments)
- Scheduling patients' appointments/procedures (initial, follow-up, and/or add-on), as applicable
- Meeting individual quality metrics (e.g., productivity, accuracy, customer service QA, etc.)
- Coordinating patient flow and timely processing
- Maintaining knowledge and deployment of practices used within the department/physician practice/hospital to address patient questions or concerns
- Maintaining knowledge of insurance requirements, Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF) pricing, financial assistance options, and overall BHSF Revenue Cycle operations
- Practicing the Baptist Health philosophy of service excellence in providing professional, compassionate and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians and community members
Skills
- High School, Cert, GED, Trn, Exper
- Complete and successfully pass the Patient Access training course
- Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Detail oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines to include, but not limited to, HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare coverage structure, including medical necessity compliance guidelines
- Experience with computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, knowledge of EMR applications, etc.) and accurate typing skills
- Bilingual English, Spanish/Creole
- Basic knowledge of medical and insurance terminology
