Responsibilities
- Conduct a structured current-state assessment across the team, tools, governance, and stakeholder relationships
- Meet with clinical, operational, and IS&T leadership across member organizations to understand pain points and priorities
- Identify and deliver 2-3 near-term wins that demonstrate the team's capability and rebuild confidence in analytics delivery
- Deliver a full strategy and roadmap — technology, governance, and team structure — by day 90
- Map out a transition plan for data scientists and how they can integrate into the larger clinical applications structure
- Lead and develop a 40+ person team spanning Epic reporting, data engineering, BI development, data governance, data science, and data platform support
- Drive Epic-first reporting transformation, including validation of 50+ Epic Cognitive Computing predictive models and deployment of population health analytics within Epic's Cogito/Caboodle ecosystem
- Oversee data governance and stewardship, including AI/ML model monitoring, metric certification, and the organization's move toward a single source of truth
- Partner with clinical, operational, and financial leadership across the system to prioritize analytics work, build stakeholder trust, and deliver actionable insights
- Position UMMS to be an early adopter of Epic's Agent Factory platform as it rolls out through 2026-2027
Skills
- Deep, hands-on Epic analytics expertise: Clarity, Caboodle, Cogito, SlicerDicer, Reporting Workbench, and ideally Cognitive Computing / predictive model experience
- Proven track record leading and transforming a 30-50+ person analytics organization, preferably within a multi-hospital health system
- Demonstrated experience assessing and stabilizing an analytics function during organizational change or transition
- A track record of rebuilding trust in data with clinical and operational stakeholders — not just delivering technical solutions
- Strong people leadership: the ability to assess team capability honestly, develop individuals, and build a high-performing team culture
- Experience with Epic Cogito Cloud, Cogito Assistant, or Epic AI/Agent Factory
- Familiarity with Epic Gold Stars benchmarking and what it takes to move an organization up the maturity curve
- Experience presenting analytics strategy and roadmaps to C-suite and board-level audiences
- Background spanning both academic medical centers and community hospital environments
