The Data Systems Analyst plays a key role in leveraging data to drive alumni engagement, donor relations, and fundraising strategy, ensuring the integrity and strategic use of advancement data across platforms and tools.
Responsibilities
- Applies professional and broadly defined business analysis and data / information administration and data use concepts to manage and perform complex assignments
- Identifies data sources, target populations, and/or new constituencies to be enhanced or established
- Develops methodology for data enhancement or retrieval in assigned specialty area(s)
- Protects integrity, authenticity, and security of data in all assignment activities
- Independently designs and implements regular data audits to identify and resolve issues related to data quality, completeness, consistency, and accuracy
- Develops audit methodologies, recommends corrective actions, and collaborates with business partners to ensure continuous data integrity improvements
- Independently manages documentation, including data dictionary, business rules, practices, and processes
- Translates legacy processes and practices to future state
- Provides ongoing CRM training and support for business units as it pertains to data uploads, standards, and maintenance
- Independently designs information transformation and upload processes
- Utilizes programming skills to clean, prepare, and optimize data sets, creating efficiencies and improving data quality
- Conducts complex data management research and plans metadata acquisition for sets of unstructured data objects such as collections of images, documents or recordings
- Coordinates student worker schedules and assignments
- Systematically reviews their work for accuracy and completeness
- Proactively meets with student workers to identify, resolve, and prevent errors
- Continuously works on skill building and professional development to advance their role
Skills
- Minimum two years experience working with data quality and governance issues and requirements
- Minimum two years experience applying knowledge of data management systems, practices and standards
- Demonstrated proficiency in writing SQL, programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, R), or utilizing advanced spreadsheet automation tools (e.g., Excel Power Query, Google Apps Script) for data analysis, transformation, and process automation
- Demonstrated ability to conduct work using relevant state, federal, and global rules and regulations as it pertains to data management and privacy
- Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated service orientation skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization
