Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Dice is seeking a Data Analytics and Performance Measurement Intern to join the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS). The intern will support the Insight and Accountability Unit by contributing to performance measurement and risk management efforts, assisting in data analysis, and developing visualizations for senior management.
Responsibilities
- Support in a review of available documents and research to contribute to the development and management of the Department's corporate key performance indicators (KPI)
- Help build, process, organize and transcribe structured surveys to support evidence-based decision-making and internal consensus building
- Support and assist the team with the development of dashboards and visualizations for senior managers and provide user support
- Assist with ad-hoc analysis and reporting needs by helping validate, process and organize datasets
- Assist in the maintenance of the Performance Measurement Dashboard on a regular basis
- Support the transition to more automated, sustainable and robust data pipelines in the Microsoft Azure cloud environment
- Conduct research, compile information from different sources and assist with preparation of background documents as requested
- Assist in preparing for meetings with partners
- Contribute to data entry, updating database and programme related documents
- Assist in editing and revision of reports, briefs and other documents as needed
- Assist in drafting correspondence, talking points, reports and presentations
- Assist with preparation and dissemination of materials including meeting notes and reports
- Fulfill other duties as required
Skills
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or
- Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above)

- Be computer literate and proficient in standard software applications (e.g., MS Office 365 or similar)
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. Programme
- Applicants must be computer literate in standard software applications (e.g., MS Office 365)
- Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required
- Strong knowledge of one or more analytics and presentation tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, Tableau, Qlik, Infogram, PowerPoint, SQL, R, Python)
- Ability to draft articles and make concise notes is desirable
