The Content Editor will be responsible for generating brand awareness by refining and contributing to content creation and client promotion. This role requires oversight of the editorial process, collaboration with various teams, and a focus on optimizing content for engagement and conversions.
Responsibilities
- Review, revise, and approve content from both in-house and freelance writers. Ensure adherence to client tone, brand guidelines, and in-house style across all formats and platforms
- Proofread for grammar, clarity, structure, accuracy, and engagement. Evaluate content for SEO best practices and optimize accordingly (e.g., metadata, headers, keyword usage)
- Create and refine content briefs that align with campaign strategies and audience intent. Provide clear, actionable feedback to writers to improve performance and quality
- Work closely with graphic designers and digital marketing specialists to ensure content aligns with visual assets and user experience goals. Participate in content planning sessions and help shape integrated marketing campaigns
- Analyze content performance using platform metrics and reporting tools. Use insights to adjust tone, structure, and formats to increase engagement, readability, and conversions
- Manage and coach content writers to maintain high editorial standards. Help onboard freelancers or junior writers and serve as the final checkpoint before content is published
- Audit and update existing content to reflect current SEO standards, branding updates, or new campaign goals
- Stay current with industry trends, content marketing innovations, and algorithm changes that impact content performance. Bring fresh editorial perspectives to enhance storytelling and lead generation strategies
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of content editing experience, preferably in a digital agency or B2B marketing setting
- Exceptional command of English grammar, style, and tone
- Proven ability to edit at both micro and macro levels—tightening copy while improving flow and clarity
- Strong knowledge of SEO writing, optimization tools, and content performance metrics
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines with precision
- Experience working with content management systems like WordPress or HubSpot
- A sharp eye for detail and a passion for clean, persuasive copy
- Experience in content marketing, PR, or digital publishing
- Familiarity with SEO tools like SEMrush, Clearscope, or Surfer SEO
- Skilled at editing for technical and professional services industries (SaaS, B2B, etc.)
- Prior experience mentoring writers or managing editorial workflows
- Basic understanding of UX writing and accessibility best practices
