Rooted in Talent is seeking an Associate for their International Growth team at MARA, a role focused on identifying and executing international expansion opportunities. The Associate will lead the underwriting process for transactions, conduct market analysis, and prepare strategic communications for executive leadership.
Responsibilities
- Own and lead the end-to-end underwriting process for international digital infrastructure transactions including deal structuring, financial modeling, due diligence coordination, and execution through close
- Build and maintain complex, multi-scenario financial models to evaluate risk-adjusted returns on prospective international investments across varying capital structures, power inputs, regulatory environments, and market conditions
- Develop and pressure-test investment theses, presenting findings and recommendations through polished, board-ready materials for senior leadership and executive stakeholders
- Conduct comprehensive research and strategic analysis of international markets to identify optimal geographies for MARA’s digital infrastructure expansion, assessing regulatory frameworks, energy availability, political risk, and competitive dynamics
- Develop market entry frameworks and growth roadmaps that inform MARA’s international expansion priorities and capital deployment decisions
- Lead cross-functional deal teams spanning finance, legal, operations, engineering, and development to ensure disciplined execution and strategic alignment across all phases of a transaction
- Coordinate and manage due diligence workstreams across internal and external stakeholders, driving accountability and maintaining deal timelines with a high degree of ownership
- Prepare high-quality investment memoranda, strategic analyses, and presentation materials for internal executive leadership, boards, and external partners, translating complex analytical work into clear, compelling recommendations
- Serve as a credible and articulate representative of MARA’s international growth strategy in external meetings, negotiations, and stakeholder engagements
Skills
- Bachelor's degree required, with a focus in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 – 6 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, infrastructure investing, project finance, or a comparable transaction-oriented role with demonstrated deal execution experience
- Prior exposure to data center investments, international markets, cross-border transactions, or emerging market infrastructure is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead and execute complex, multi-party transactions end-to-end, including origination, structuring, due diligence, negotiation, and close
- Proven experience coordinating cross-functional teams and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment
- Advanced financial modeling capabilities, including project finance, LBO, DCF, and scenario analysis, with the ability to independently build, stress-test, and present models with institutional-quality rigor
- Strong quantitative skills applied to evaluating investment returns, capital structures, and risk profiles across diverse international markets and asset types
- Ability to synthesize complex macroeconomic, regulatory, and competitive data into clear strategic frameworks and investment theses that inform senior leadership decisions
- Intellectual curiosity and sound judgment in evaluating new international markets, including geopolitical risk, regulatory environments, energy infrastructure, and digital infrastructure demand drivers
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce polished investment memoranda, board presentations, and executive briefings that clearly convey complex analysis and strategic recommendations
- Comfortable presenting to and engaging with C-level executives, external partners, and cross-functional stakeholders with confidence and credibility
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence without direct authority, and align diverse internal and external stakeholders around shared objectives
