The Annuity Reinsurance Administration Analyst is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reporting with annuity reinsurers, including preparing journal entries and settlement reporting for annuity reinsurance treaties.
Responsibilities
- Participate in many aspects of annuity reinsurance accounting and reporting, from the initial recording/coding of treaties to the monthly/quarterly processing and accounting/reporting
- Prepare accounting/reporting entries and settlement reports for annuity treaties
- Partner with various areas to implement new reinsurance treaties / amendments
- Perform timely and accurate reconciliation of reinsurance accounts, making necessary adjustments as appropriate
- Perform annuity reinsurance internal controls
- Gain a thorough understanding of the underlying reinsurance processes and the types of treaties and arrangements in place
- Assist with internal, external, and reinsurer audits
- Maintain key stroke level standard operating procedures
- Continuously evaluate processes and controls in order to create operational efficiency
- Assist with ad hoc requests, special projects and other duties related, as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 1+ year of relevant experience in reinsurance accounting or financial reporting
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
- Highly motivated and demonstrated ability to take initiative
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels
- Experience analyzing and understanding key data and technical accounting
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks/projects to meet critical deadlines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills

- Champion process improvement and automation activities

- This position primarily involves sedentary work, requiring long periods of sitting, regular use of a computer, and occasional standing or walking, with reasonable accommodations available

- Regular and punctual attendance
- Ability to travel up to: 10% of the time
- Reinsurance accounting with annuities or financial services industries preferred
- CPA license or in pursuit of such license preferred
