Role Description: This unpaid Grant Writing internship is a hybrid position based in Irving, TX, with either on-site or work-from-home responsibilities, whichever the intern chooses. The intern will assist with researching prospective funders, reviewing eligibility criteria, and organizing grant opportunities in a tracking system. Day-to-day tasks include drafting and editing grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents that clearly communicate the Foundation’s mission, programs, and impact. The intern will help gather and synthesize program data, patient stories, and evaluation metrics to strengthen funding narratives and will support the development of budgets and basic financial justifications for grant applications. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with reporting to funders, maintaining timelines and deadlines, coordinating with program staff to collect information, and supporting other development and communications tasks as needed. Qualifications • Strong Proposal Writing skills, including drafting, editing, and tailoring grant narratives to specific funder requirements. • Experience in Grant writing, preferably for non-profits. • Solid Research and Analytical Skills to identify funding opportunities, interpret guidelines, and synthesize program data and impact metrics. • Clear and professional Communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and present information accurately and respectfully. • Basic Budgeting skills to assist in preparing grant budgets, simple financial justifications, and cost summaries. • Interest in nonprofit work, oncology care, public health, or social impact; prior experience or coursework in these areas is an asset. • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a hybrid work environment. • Proficiency with common office software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, shared drives); familiarity with donor or grant databases is helpful.
