What You'll Do
As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you'll be at the heart of our technology operations, developing and maintaining the database infrastructure that powers our global financial systems. You'll work alongside talented engineers in an open, supportive environment where your technical skills and creative problem-solving abilities will be fully utilized.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Development & Management: Design, develop, deploy, and operate (relational) database applications across development, testing, and production environments. Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of all database systems.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Create effective and comprehensive test cases that integrate seamlessly into our CI/CD pipelines. Implement robust testing strategies to ensure code quality and system reliability.
- Observability & Monitoring: Develop observability capabilities into all solutions to enable rapid identification of root causes for failures in time-sensitive processes. Implement logging, tracing, and monitoring solutions that provide actionable insights.
- Scalability & Performance: Build and optimize SQL-based solutions that can scale to meet the demands of millions of transactions daily. Write efficient queries, optimize database schemas, and ensure optimal performance across all environments.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Work with cloud platforms to deploy and manage database solutions. Leverage modern cloud-native technologies to improve efficiency and reduce operational overhead.
- Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams including software engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions that meet business requirements.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database designs, architectures, and operational procedures.
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Technical Experience: 2-3 years of hands-on experience in developing, deploying, and operating database applications in production environments.
- SQL Expertise: 2+ years of strong experience with SQL, including query optimization, schema design, and performance tuning.
- CI/CD Integration: Proven experience developing test cases that integrate into continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines.
- Observability: 2-3 years of experience building observability solutions to enable quick identification and resolution of system issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cloud Platform Experience: Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Microsoft Azure.
- Financial Services Background: Experience working in regulated industries, particularly financial services, where data integrity and security are paramount.
- Multi-Region Systems: Experience with distributed systems that span multiple countries and regulatory environments.
- Data Engineering Tools: Familiarity with modern data engineering tools and frameworks such as Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, or similar technologies.
- Automation Skills: Strong scripting and automation abilities using languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
