Goodspeed Merrill is a fast-growing, collaborative law firm with a dynamic Employment Law Practice Group. They are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join their team, primarily focusing on advising clients on employment law compliance and supporting litigation matters. The role offers hands-on exposure to a wide range of employment law issues in a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Advise & Consult: Provide clients with guidance on employment law compliance, best practices, and pre-litigation severance reviews
- Draft & Negotiate: Prepare, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements, severance packages, and workplace policies
- Compliance Leadership: Collaborate on high-demand projects involving employee handbook reviews, implementation, and regular updates
- Corporate Support: Assist with corporate due diligence for mergers and acquisitions
- Litigation Support: Provide critical support on litigation matters, including research, pleadings, discovery, and motion practice, and participate in mediations, hearings, and meetings
- Investigations: Participate in and conduct workplace investigations and employment audits
- Research: Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on evolving employment law issues
- Collaboration: Collaborate with attorneys across the practice groups to handle complex client matters
Skills
- 0–5 years of experience practicing employment law
- Juris Doctor from an accredited university
- Licensed to practice law in the state of Colorado required
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and client service abilities
- Highly organized, reliable, and able to manage deadlines independently
- Sharp attention to detail
- Litigation experience is not required, but a proactive mindset is essential
